About twenty years ago I was working as an interim HR manager within a shipbuilding company in the Netherlands. Within this business it quite common to work with a flexible workforce as new orders arrive quite regularly, especially in the engineering department. You cannot have your formation of engineers based on these peeks in required capacity.   As a result, with every new order coming in, there was an immediate need for hiring highly skilled, experienced, temporary shipbuilding engineers. Unfortunately, the Dutch market of temporary shipbuilding engineers is relatively small.   I decided to investigate the ‘market’ in the UK by inviting about ten companies to convince me of their possibilities to deliver the right skilled people on a regular basis and also the quality and reliability of handling taxes and social security, organizing lodging and travelling and so on. These things are also very important.   Only one company matched all the requirements and in the 20 years afterwards I have hired people from Europteam for many different companies in my role as interim manager. Besides, many times I have advised companies, which are a member of our association, to hire Europteam’s engineers and other specialized people like all sorts of mechanics and welders. In that case I made contact between the company and Europeteam. Sometimes the need was very specific and difficult to fulfill, for example: 12 highly qualified, specialized elevator mechanics to start within two weeks after the request.
